Also, the Grande Punto's model logo was quite cool and original, unlike the one on the Evo. In my opinion, they should have kept the original name: why Evo? It's not a Mitsubishi Lancer! And it's not like it is a real evolution.

In 2009 the Grande Punto was facelifted and renamed Punto Evo. The car is relatively comfortable and very quiet when trundling along. When cornering fast it sometimes seems like the back actually steps out just a bit to help the car's trajectory.īrakes are good but the pedal's feel isn't nearly as good as in my 2000 Fiat Punto JTD. Almost no understeering, excepts for roundabouts when driving aggressively. It corners very, very, well, it's just that it doesn't give much feedback. Steering lacks feel but the car is actually very agile and sharp. All that lack of pulling power means you have to keep the gas pedal welded to the floor at all times.

You'll get between 6,0 l/100km and 8,5 l/100km, if you drive gently or aggressively, respectively. If you're expecting it to at least return a good fuel consumption, you're in for a bad surprise. Good thing the gearbox is pleasant enough to use. On twisty roads it's enough, but you have to keep constantly using the gearbox to make sure it stays in high revs. On highway, when climbing, you have to get into 4th gear just to keep the car going along. All in all, this version of this car has one of the most ridiculous names ever, considering the crappy engine. It's simply not up to the task of powering this car.

It's got no punch at all, not enough torque, no "sweet spot", and it's not rev-happy. It is located near the steering wheel behind the dashboard trim. For access, turn the fixing screws (1) 1/4 turn counterclockwise, and then pressing the cover (2) to the right, lower it down.Puny, puny engine - 1242cc, 8V, 65 hp and 102 Nm.
